This new police station for the City of El Centro was designed to serve the community for generations while keeping the department fully operational throughout construction.
The project involved phased demolition of the existing police station and construction of two new buildings. The main two-story building brings together a public lobby, a community meeting and multipurpose space, administrative offices, and a full suite of patrol-related functions including locker rooms, a fitness area, and report-writing stations. A separate support building houses an Operations Center, property and evidence storage, a K-9 unit, a fingerprint laboratory, and additional police support and storage space. The upper floor of the support building houses an indoor firearms range.
To keep the police department running without interruption, the project was organized into two construction phases, minimizing operational impact throughout the delivery process.
The facility is classified as an Essential Services Facility, reflecting the elevated performance and resilience standards required for critical public infrastructure.
